The Royal Challengers Bengaluru has announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for the families of each of the eleven victims who lost their lives in the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, June 4. The team will also be creating a fund called ‘RCB cares’ to support the fans who sustained injuries in the incident.
What was meant to be a celebratory event for RCB’s maiden victory in the IPL 2025 turned into a tragedy after lakhs of fans turned up at the stadium, which had a capacity of just 35,000. The overcrowding coupled with mismanagement turned things chaotic, eventually leading to a stampede, killing eleven and injuring 33 others.
“The unfortunate incident in Bengaluru yesterday has caused a lot of anguish and pain to the RCB family. As a mark of respect and a gesture of solidarity, RCB has announced a financial support of INR 10 lakh to each of the eleven families of the deceased,” RCB’s statement read.
“Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief,” it added.
