Aamir Khan Confirms Superhero Film With Lokesh Kanagaraj, Dismisses PK 2 Rumours

Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has confirmed that he is joining hands with acclaimed Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for a high-octane superhero film, marking the beginning of an exciting new collaboration between North and South cinema heavyweights.

Aamir Khan is doing superhero film with Lokesh Kanagaraj

In a recent group interaction with PTI, Aamir shared, “Lokesh and I are working on a film, it is a superhero film. It is a big-scale action film and it will start next year, second half.” With Lokesh known for redefining action cinema in Tamil films such as Vikram, Kaithi, Master, and Leo, the announcement has left fans eager to see what this powerful combination will deliver.

Aamir Khan denies rumours around PK sequel

Aamir, who is gearing up for the release of ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ on June 20, also cleared the air about swirling rumours regarding a possible sequel to his 2014 hit ‘PK’.

Dismissing the speculation, he said, “‘PK 2’ is a rumour. I’m doing Dadasaheb Phalke biopic, Raju and I are working on it,” confirming that he will be reuniting with director Rajkumar Hirani for a biographical project based on the life of Indian cinema’s founding father, Dadasaheb Phalke.

Aamir Khan on his dream project – Mahabharat

However, the project closest to Aamir’s heart remains his long-cherished dream of adapting the ‘Mahabharata’. “’Mahabharat’ has been my dream for the last 25 years. It is not a film. When you are making ‘Mahabharat’, you are not making a film, you’re surrendering. I’m trying, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to fulfil my dream. Till the time I don’t make a basic foundation for it, I won’t be able to answer (any questions on it). I don’t have the right information right now. All I know is I’m going to start work on it,” he was quoted as saying by PTI.

Aamir would prefer sequels of these films

When asked which of his previous films could lend themselves well to sequels, Aamir pointed to 3 Idiots, Dil Chahta Hai, and Sarfarosh as strong contenders. “A sequel can be made to ‘3 Idiots’ with those three characters (played by him, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi), who can meet later (in life). Also, a sequel can be made to ‘Dil Chahta Hai’, and ‘Sarfarosh’,” he shared.

He even offered a glimpse into what a sequel to Dil Chahta Hai might explore: “Like, in ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ we can explore the mid-life crisis of the three boys (played by him, Akshaye Khanna, and Saif Ali Khan), and they all are seeking therapy. So, it will be an interesting thing, you know, for the three of them.”
