RCB On Alert: Ahmedabad Record Tilts In Punjab’s Favour

The grand finale of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will see Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Led by Rajat Patidar, RCB will be hoping to finally lift their maiden IPL trophy after 17 long seasons. But the road to glory won’t be easy – especially against a confident Punjab side and with Ahmedabad’s record not favoring the Bengaluru franchise.

Punjab’s Record Chase Raises the Stakes

Punjab Kings are entering the final with momentum on their side. In Qualifier 2, they pulled off a sensational run chase – hunting down 203 runs against Mumbai Indians at the same Ahmedabad venue.

It was the first time in IPL history that any team successfully chased 200+ against MI. Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a stunning 87 off 49 balls*, sending a strong warning to RCB.

RCB’s Unconvincing Numbers at Narendra Modi Stadium

RCB’s past outings in Ahmedabad have been a mixed bag. They’ve played 6 matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with 3 wins and 3 losses. But a deeper look shows concern – only one win in their last four matches at this ground. These numbers could weigh heavily on the team heading into their biggest game yet.

Final Woes: RCB’s Title Drought Continues

This will be Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) fourth IPL final, but history has not been kind to them:

2009 Final – Lost to Deccan Chargers by 6 runs

2011 Final – Defeated by Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

2016 Final – Fell short against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), losing by 8 runs

With a passionate fanbase and a golden chance at redemption, RCB will be desperate to break the jinx. But if history and recent form are any indicators, Punjab Kings won’t make it easy.
