Rachel Gupta Resigns As Miss Grand International 2024 Amid Controversy With Pageant Organisers

Model Rachel Gupta has found herself at the center of a growing controversy with the Miss Grand International (MGI) pageant. The reigning titleholder of Miss Grand International 2024, Gupta took to her official Instagram handle to announce that she had resigned from her title. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the organisers issued a statement claiming that she had, in fact, been officially terminated.

In her Instagram post, the 21-year-old Gupta stated that she had been subjected to a toxic environment and repeated unfulfilled promises. According to her, stepping down was a difficult but necessary decision.

Rachep Gupta’s Instagram post

“Being crowned was one of the most cherished dreams of my life, but the months following my crowning have been marked by broken promises, mistreatment, and a toxic environment I can no longer endure in silence,” she wrote.

Gupta also revealed that she plans to release a video soon to share her full side of the story, adding in her caption, “The truth will come out very soon.”
Addressing her global supporters, she said, “I sincerely apologize if this news has let you down. Please understand that this wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one for me.”

While Gupta cited personal struggles and a toxic work environment, the Miss Grand International (MGI) organisation presented a conflicting narrative. In an official statement posted on their social media platforms, the pageant confirmed that Gupta had been officially terminated from her position.

According to the organisation, Gupta failed to fulfill her responsibilities, engaged in unauthorized external projects, and refused to participate in an official trip to Guatemala.

Miss Grand International’s statement

“The Miss Grand International Organisation hereby announces the termination of Miss Rachel Gupta’s title as Miss Grand International 2024, effective immediately,” the statement read. The organisation also requested that she return the crown to the MGI Head Office within 30 days.
