In a proud moment for Indian independent cinema, acclaimed actors Boman Irani and Makarand Deshpande unveiled the official poster of filmmaker Prasenjit Chakraborty’s upcoming urban drama Chindi Pakad at the Indian Pavilion during the 78th Cannes Film Festival. Hosted by Shristi Creation Film Productions in association with Rituparna Sengupta, the poster launch attracted considerable attention for its symbolic design and hard-hitting narrative.
About the film
Chindi Pakad dives deep into the gritty realities of urban life, addressing issues such as addiction, poverty, and survival. The film’s bold title design—with a green bottle replacing the letter “I” in Chindi—serves as a stark visual metaphor for the themes the film explores.
Speaking at the event, Boman Irani said, “It’s inspiring to see filmmakers bring raw, real stories to the forefront. Chindi Pakad is one such compelling journey, and I’m honored to help launch it on this global stage.”
Makarand Deshpande added, “The intensity and symbolism of the poster immediately struck me. Films like this give voice to the unseen and make us reflect on the society we live in.”
Director shares thoughts about Chindi Pakad
Writer-director and producer Prasenjit Chakraborty (Priyam) shared his thoughts, stating, “Chindi Pakad is not just a film—it’s a voice for the voiceless. Launching its poster at Cannes alongside veterans like Boman Irani and Makarand Deshpande is a dream come true and a huge step for independent storytelling.”
The film is produced by Prasenjit Chakraborty, with United Colours Entertainment and Surendra Chourasiya as co-producers. Scriptworld Entertainment joins the project as the creative producer.
