Jyeshtha Month 2025: The third month of the Hindu calendar, Jyeshtha, has begun. It will be observed from May 13 to June 11, 2025. This month is known for intense heat, as rivers and ponds often dry up due to the strong sunlight. Because of this, water holds great importance during this period.

According to religious beliefs, special worship of Lord Hanuman, Surya Dev, and Varun Dev is performed in this month. Varun Dev is the god of water, Surya Dev rules over fire, and Lord Hanuman is considered the divine protector in the Kaliyuga.

In astrology, Jyeshtha is considered a highly significant month. Performing rituals, worship, and charity during this time is believed to bring freedom from planetary defects (grah dosh). Major fasts and festivals like Nirjala Ekadashi and Ganga Dussehra also fall in this sacred month.

There is a religious belief that Lord Hanuman met Lord Ram during Jyeshtha month, which makes Tuesdays especially important. Observing fasts and worshipping Hanuman on these days is said to remove troubles and bring blessings.

After this month ends on June 11, Ashadha month will begin. During Jyeshtha, conserving water, watering plants, and helping others, including birds and animals with water is considered highly virtuous. Pitras are also believed to be pleased by these acts.

• Never let a thirsty person go without offering water.
• Avoid performing weddings of eldest sons or daughters during this month.
• Use water wisely; avoid wasting it, as the body’s hydration levels drop due to intense heat.

According to the scriptures, Jyeshtha is considered the most auspicious of all Hindu months. Ruled by the planet Mars, which symbolizes courage in Vedic astrology, Mars is also regarded as the commander of the nine planets. This month is especially dear to Lord Vishnu, and worshipping him during this time is said to bring immense spiritual benefits.

There is great significance in worshipping Lord Vishnu, the holy river Ganga (which is believed to flow from his feet), and Lord Hanuman during Jyeshtha. In Hindu tradition, Tuesdays falling in this month are celebrated as Bada Mangal or Budhwa Mangal.
