New Delhi: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s performance in the Tamil film Maharaja has opened up new opportunities for him in South Indian cinema. In a recent interview with The Hindu at The Huddle, he spoke about the film’s impact on his acting career and financial stability. He credited Vijay Sethupathi for bringing the project to him, as the film went on to become one of the highest-grossing Tamil releases of the year, earning ₹190 crore worldwide.
According to Anurag Kashyap, he ran across Vijay Sethupathi quite a bit while working on Kennedy’s post-production, and Sethupathi advised that he look into playing ‘Maharaja’. He shared, “I kept bumping into Vijay Sethupathi at my neighbour’s place. He told me there’s this amazing script they’ve been trying to get to me. I initially said no. But he helped me find something in Kennedy, so I gave him a ‘Thank You’ card in the film.”
