However, the board is still trying to persuade him to reconsider.

A BCCI official was quoted saying, “Kohli had informed the selectors two weeks ago about his desire to quit Tests. They were trying to persuade him to play in the Test series against England. However, he is still firm on his stance. The final call will come close to the selection meeting next week.”
Virat Kohli’s potential exit would follow closely on the heels of Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket, signaling a major transition in the team’s leadership and core lineup.
