Suniel Shetty’s ‘Kesari Veer: Legends Of Somnath’ Banned In Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack

New Delhi: The makers of the upcoming film ‘Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath’ have decided to skip the film’s release in Pakistan in the wake of the devastating terror assault in Pahalgam. The film’s producer, Kanu Chauhan, described the action as a “moral stand” against terrorism, seeing it as a symbolic measure to show sympathy with the victims.

The historical action movie tells the story of the unsung heroes who fought to protect the Somnath Temple from 14th-century invaders and stars Suniel Shetty, Sooraj Pancholi, and Vivek Oberoi.

Producer’s Statement

During an interview with SCREEN, Kanu Chauhan verified the judgment, saying, “I have informed and instructed my overseas distributor not to allow my film to be released in Pakistan at any cost after hearing and seeing the Pakistani-based militant attack on Indian soil. I don’t want my film to be released in Pakistan.”

Standing firm in his decision, Chauhan added: “I have zero tolerance and there is zero justification for such cowardly attacks on our soil. I have put my foot down, and Kesari Veer will not be released in Pakistan. It’s a moral stand and support towards the innocent victims who lost their lives in this terrorist attack.”

He said that ‘Kesari Veer’ would undoubtedly be launched in India as well as other foreign countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, the Gulf and North America.

Kesari Veer: Legends of Somnath’s trailer will be released in Mumbai on April 29, 2025. The film attempts to illuminate a lesser-known chapter of Indian valour with its visually stunning settings and intense action.
