FIR Against ‘Jaat’ Movie Actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda For Hurting Religious Sentiments

Bollywood actors Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Vineet Kumar Singh have been booked for hurting religious sentiments with a scene in their newly-released film ‘Jaat’.

Jalandhar police lodged an FIR against the actors on Wednesday under Section 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), reported NDTV.

The film’s director, Gopichand Malineni, and its producers have also been booked by the police.

The complainant stated that one of the scenes in the flim, released on April 10, has “deeply hurt the relgious sentiments of the entire Christian community.”

It has been alleged in the complaint that disrespect was shown towards Jesus Christ.

Film Scene Causes Outrage

Reportedly, in one of the scenes in the film Hooda’s character stands under a cricifix inside a church, right above the holy pulpit, as people are praying. The scene reportedly includes intimidation and unruly behaviour.

The complainant also alleged that the director, writer, and producer “deliberately” released this film during the holy month of Good Friday and Easter “so that Christians get angry and riots break out in the entire country and unrest is spread,” and sought a ban on the movie.
