BCCI Sack Abhishek Nayar, T Dilip From Coaching Team: Report

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have reportedly sacked Abhishek Nayar (batting coach) and T Dilip (fielding coach) from the coaching staff of the Indian Cricket Team on Thursday, April 17.

The decision comes in at a point of time where all the stars of the Indian team are currently busy playing IPL, and the apex institution for cricket in India have ample of time to conduct an overhaul, before India depart for England to play a 5-match Test series, thus embarking the start of the World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle.

India, who recently won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in UAE, have won two ICC titles in the space of 8 months (T20 World Cup in June 2024), but their form in red-ball cricket has been a big concern.

Apart from their 2-0 win over Bangladesh at home, India have heavily struggled for consistency in Tests, with New Zealand and Australia handing the side a series of embarassing defeats, thereby ending India’s quest for a hat-trick of WTC Final appearances.
