Veteran actor Anupam Kher’s directorial project ‘Tanvi The Great’ is set to have its grand premiere at the Cannes Film Festival under the Marché du Film section.
Anupam Kher on his directorial
Marking his return to direction after more than two decades, Kher described ‘Tanvi The Great’ as a film that speaks a universal language. “I’ve always wanted to create a film with a universal theme—one that transcends boundaries and connects with hearts everywhere. Tanvi The Great is a story born from deep passion and purpose,” he said, underlining his hopes that the film would find an emotional connection with global audiences.
Kher on MM Keeravani’s contribution
Kher, who last directed ‘Om Jai Jagdish’ in 2002, emphasised how personal the film is to him and praised the contribution of Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani.
“It’s a film from our hearts, and I believe it will resonate just as deeply with audiences in Ahmedabad as it will in America. Having Oscar-winner M.M. Keeravani bring this story to life with his musical genius has been a true blessing. His artistry has elevated ‘Tanvi The Great’ in ways I had only dreamt of. I am truly humbled to present ‘Tanvi The Great’, our labour of love, to the world.”
Tanvi The Great’s screenings
Following its Cannes debut, the film will travel across the globe with planned screenings in major cities like London, New York, and Los Angeles. Anupam Kher is set to personally introduce the film at these events, and the premiere will also be attended by the film’s cast and crew, along with several prominent names from the industry.
Adding another feather to its cap, ‘Tanvi The Great’ has also welcomed the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) on board as co-producers. The announcement was made on April 11.
Speaking about the partnership, Kher said, “Tanvi The Great is a labour of love, crafted with the finest talent in cinema. Having NFDC as a co-producer strengthens our journey in bringing this powerful story to audiences worldwide.”
The NFDC, known for supporting iconic Indian cinema like ‘Salaam Bombay’, ‘Mirch Masala’, and ‘Qissa’, brings strong credibility and global reach to the film’s release.
