High-flying Gujarat Titans have been dealt a blow in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as star all-rounder Glenn Phillips has exited the squad.
Although an official confirmation is awaited, reports suggest that the New Zealand cricketer may have suffered an injury, prompting his sudden departure. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to provide a formal update soon.
Injury Cloud Over Phillips
While the exact nature of Phillips’ exit remains unclear, it is believed that he sustained an injury during Gujarat’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6. Notably, he hasn’t played a single game for the Titans this season, further fueling speculation about his fitness status.
Champions Trophy Heroics
The 28-year-old all-rounder was a key figure for New Zealand in the recent Champions Trophy, held across Pakistan and Dubai. His sharp fielding and athletic catches were among the tournament’s highlights. Phillips’ absence will undoubtedly be felt by Gujarat, especially given his recent form and versatility.
Replacement Yet to Be Named
As of now, the Gujarat Titans management has not announced any replacement. With Shubman Gill’s side set to face Lucknow Super Giants in their upcoming fixture, all eyes will be on the team’s next move to fill the gap left by Phillips’ exit.
