Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan’s upcoming film ‘King’ has become one of the most highly anticipated releases, with fans eagerly awaiting any update. The latest buzz is that Deepika Padukone has been confirmed to star opposite SRK in Siddharth Anand’s action-packed thriller.
Deepika Padukone to star in King?
Though Deepika has an extended cameo role, her character plays a crucial part in the plot. Peeping Moon has confirmed that Deepika will portray Suhana Khan’s mother and also Shah Rukh Khan’s former lover in the film.
Shah Rukh and Deepika first shared the screen in the iconic ‘Om Shanti Om’ (2007), where Deepika played the role of Shanti Priya and Sandy. This new role comes shortly after Deepika played Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Atlee’s ‘Jawan’ (2023) and Ranbir Kapoor’s mother in ‘Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva’ (2022). Not to mention, she’s also set to appear as the mother of Kalki in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ (2024), starring Prabhas.

About King
Initially, Sujoy Ghosh was slated to direct ‘King’, but Siddharth Anand took over after Ghosh stepped down. What was once planned as an extended cameo for SRK has now evolved into a full-fledged Shah Rukh Khan film, featuring high-octane action sequences and romance. The film’s direction has undergone major changes, with earlier discussions around Saif Ali Khan and Tabu for the roles of Suhana’s parents being scrapped.
