The first week of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has been filled with some great action, with 12 matches already played. While some teams have struggled, others have made an impressive start and are emerging as strong contenders for playoffs.

Three teams that have shown great potential 

Delhi Capitals (DC): Delhi Capitals (DC) have had a brilliant start under the captaincy of Axar Patel, winning both of their matches so far. With standout performances from Mitchell Starc, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ashutosh Sharma, DC is making a strong push for the playoffs. If they continue their current form, they are set to go deep in the tournament.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): RCB has made a strong start to the season, winning both of their opening matches and sitting at the top of the points table. They first triumphed over KKR at home and then claimed a win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Chennai. With key players in excellent form and a confident strategy, RCB looks like a serious contender for IPL 2025 playoffs.

Punjab Kings (PBKS): Punjab Kings have shown impressive planning during the auction, and it’s paying off on the field. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, they’ve made an explosive start. Iyer’s match-winning knock in the first game set the tone, while bowlers like Yuzvendra Chahal and Arshdeep Singh have provided solid support. With promising performances from debutant Priyansh Arya, PBKS not only looks set for the playoffs but also as a strong title contender.

IPL 2025 final will take place on Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 25. Top two teams from the league stage will head into the playoffs. On May 20, the top two teams will compete in Qualifier 1 in Hyderabad, with the winner securing a direct place in the final.

The teams finishing in third and fourth will face off in the Eliminator on May 21 in Hyderabad. The winner will advance to Qualifier 2 on May 23 in Kolkata, where they will face the loser of Qualifier 1 for a shot at the second spot in the final.
