New Delhi: Famous television actress Barkha Bisht has been around for a long time, and she has some interesting stories to tell about her career. Barkha has been in many Bollywood films, including Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2014 smash blockbuster ‘Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. Recently, a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes was provided by Barkha, who appeared on the Siddarth Kannan Podcast and discussed her experiences working with Bhansali and her co-actors.
While recalling her experience on the set, she brought up director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s habit. Barkha praised Bhansali for his optimistic attitude and soothing demeanour, despite his reputation as a perfectionist.
She shared, “Whenever he would lose his temper, everyone on the set would go quiet, including Ranveer Singh. Thankfully I never experienced that side of him, but I have definitely witnessed it. I was lucky that he was fond of me, but I have seen my co-actors in that situation.”
Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s Multiple Takes
Barkha also related a touching and humorous anecdote about her time on Ram-Leela with Ranveer Singh. On television, she was known as a “one-take” performer, but she struggled on the Ram-Leela set and had to do sixteen takes to get a single shot right. She said, “I was terrified that my career was about to end,” and revealed that Ranveer had convinced her otherwise.
The actress said, “He (Ranveer Singh) came over and told me he’d done 30 takes, and Deepika had done 50. ‘You’re good,’ he told me.”
Barkha went on to say that she and Ranveer would talk about their families and origins in between shoots, but that they never got to shoot with Deepika Padukone.
‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’ was a blockbuster revenge drama set against the love story of Ram, played by Ranveer Singh, and Leela, played by Deepika Padukone. The film won three awards at the 59th Filmfare Awards and was nominated for eight.
