Needing just 14 runs to reach this milestone, Gill comfortably achieved it, solidifying his dominance at this venue, where he has already registered three centuries and four half-centuries in the IPL.

Gill’s achievement is even more remarkable as he became the fastest Indian batter to score 1000 runs at a single IPL venue, reaching the mark in just 20 innings.

He surpassed the previous Indian record held by Suryakumar Yadav, who took 31 innings to score 1000 IPL runs at Wankhede Stadium.

Among all players, only Chris Gayle has reached this milestone faster, taking just 19 innings to score 1000 IPL runs at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

With this feat, Gill also moved ahead of legendary batters like David Warner and Shaun Marsh in this record category.

Despite his record-breaking achievement, Gill couldn’t capitalize on his start against Mumbai Indians. He looked in good touch but was dismissed for 38 runs off 27 balls. His innings ended in the 9th over when Hardik Pandya bowled a short-pitched delivery, and Naman Dheer took a sharp catch.
