Why Is Shardiya Navratri Celebrated?
In Hinduism, Shardiya Navratri is believed to commemorate Goddess Durga’s battle against Mahishasura for the welfare of the world. On the ninth day, she defeated Mahishasura, protecting the universe. This is why she is also called Mahishasura Mardini. On the first day of Shardiya Navratri, Ghatasthapana is performed, followed by nine days of worship, aarti, and offerings to the goddess in the morning and evening. On the day of Navratri Vrat Paran, Dussehra is celebrated.
