Reports suggest that Rahul received news on Sunday that his wife, Athiya Shetty, was expecting to give birth soon. Following this, he spoke with the team management, and the franchise granted him permission to be with his wife for this special moment. Rahul returned to Mumbai on Sunday night.
There had been speculation for some time that KL Rahul might miss the opening matches of IPL 2025. Even in a pre-match press conference, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel had hinted at uncertainty regarding Rahul’s availability.
As per reports, Rahul could be absent for at least the first three matches of the season.
KL Rahul has been one of the most consistent performers in IPL history. In 132 matches, he has scored 4,683 runs at an average of 45.47 and a strike rate of 134.61. His tally includes four centuries and 37 half-centuries, along with 400 fours and 187 sixes.
