“Suryakumar Yadav is India’s T20I captain. So, it is ideal for him to lead the MI team in my absence in the first game against CSK,” Hardik said in the pre-season press conference on Wednesday (March 19).
Hardik Pandya suspended for IPL 2025 opener
Hardik Pandya will miss Mumbai Indians’ opening match against Chennai Super Kings due to a one-match suspension for a slow over rate in his team’s final match of the last edition of IPL.
Premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah was injured during India’ fifth and final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. He was expected to regain full fitness for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but that didn’t happen.Â
Mumbai Indians (MI) will also be without star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is recovering from an injury. With two key players unavailable, MI faces a tough challenge in their opening clash against five-time winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
