Virat Kohli’s century against Pakistan
Legendary batter Virat Kohli had a slow start to the Champions Trophy 2025, failing to make an impact in India’s opening match against Bangladesh.
However, he quickly bounced back with a century against Pakistan, reaffirming his dominance over his favorite rival. Though he couldn’t contribute much against New Zealand, he played a crucial 84-run knock in the semi-final against Australia, guiding India to victory and earning the Player of the Match award.
Rohit Sharma’s ranking declines
Veteran opener Rohit Sharma, who entered the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament as the third-ranked ODI batter, has slipped two places to fifth with 745 rating points. While he consistently provided aggressive starts at the top of the order, he struggled to convert them into big scores, leading to his decline in the latest ICC ODI rankings.
