Chinese smartphone manufacturer Honor has introduced an innovative deepfake detection technology in its latest Magic 7 Pro smartphone, aiming to combat the rising threat of AI-generated fake content. The feature was unveiled ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, Spain, showcasing Honor’s push toward AI-driven smartphone security and automation.
6 Seconds To Detect Deepfake
With deepfake videos and manipulated images becoming a growing concern, Honor’s AI-powered tool promises to detect such content in just six seconds by analysing minute details on the screen, reported Reuters.
The entire detection process runs on-device, ensuring that user data remains private and secure. Unlike cloud-based detection methods, which may pose privacy risks, Honor’s approach ensures that all processing happens locally on the smartphone.
The deepfake detection technology is powered by GUI (Graphical User Interface) technology, allowing the AI to read and understand the screen like a human.
According to Honor’s product expert Thomas B, this means the AI can analyse displayed content and act on behalf of the user with their permission. “The whole process is completely on-device, so privacy and security are fully taken care of,” he emphasised.

In addition to deepfake detection, the Magic 7 Pro comes equipped with advanced AI-driven functionalities that enhance user convenience. One standout feature allows users to book a restaurant with a simple voice command. After making the request, the user only needs to press the confirmation button to finalise the reservation.
The smartphone also includes powerful AI-assisted image editing capabilities. Users can remove unwanted elements from photos using natural language commands, such as “remove the person in yellow pants”, making photo editing seamless and intuitive.
