Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash Ambani said on Friday that the number of hours spent at the office matters less to him than the quality of work delivered each day. “I don’t think about it (timing at work) in terms of timings and the amount of hours. It’s about the quality of work that you do on a daily basis,” Ambani said while speaking at the Mumbai Tech Week event.
Akash Ambani was responding to a question from Harsh Jain, CEO of Dream11, who asked whether he would prefer working from 8 am to 5 pm or 5 pm to 8 am, according to a Moneycontrol report.
“I don’t think about it in terms of timings and the amount of hours. It’s about the quality of work that you do on a daily basis. And I think one of the growth is life is. I know it’s supposed to be rapid fire, but I feel very strongly about this answer,” he said.
“Growth is life is a motto of Reliance, but it also applies to your personal life. So you have to grow with every single day that is passing. You know, go into areas that you’re uncomfortable with and grow from there,” Akash Ambani added.
Akash Ambani also mentioned that his company has assembled a team of over 1,000 data scientists, researchers, and engineers to lead its efforts in artificial intelligence. “The company is also putting together a 1GW capacity data centre at Jamnagar which will help in the country’s AI journey,” he added.
L&T Chairman Controversy
Meanwhile, the debate on work life balance has been at the centre stage for quite some time now. Recently, Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Chairman and Managing Director, S.N. Subrahmanyan’s remarks on long working hours caused a hot debate on this topic where he suggested that one should work as long as 90 hours in a week.
