The Legend Of Hanuman Jayanti
According to ancient legends, an apsara named Anjana was born on Earth due to a curse. She could only be freed from this curse by giving birth to a child. The Valmiki Ramayana mentions that Kesari, the father of Hanuman Ji, was the king of Sumeru and the son of Lord Brihaspati.
To have a child, Anjana performed intense penance for 12 years, worshipping Lord Shiva with great devotion. As a result, she was blessed with Hanuman Ji as her son. It is believed that Hanuman Ji is an incarnation of Lord Shiva himself.
