RCBW Vs GGW: Reigning Women’s Premier League champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women are enduring tough run in the 2025 edition, as their title defense-run hangs by a thread.
After winning their opening two matches, Smriti Mandhana’s side have now lost their 3rd consecutive game, and sit at a risk of missing out on a playoffs spot.
The latest fixture ended in pure humbling of RCBW, who were playing at their home (M. Chinnaswamy Stadium), as Gujarat Ginats Women handed them a 6-wicket defeat.

“We didn’t bat well in the powerplay, trying a bit too hard early on and losing our way. It was a different kind of wicket today. Since arriving here, we’ve played some really good cricket but haven’t managed to get the results. However, today, we were outplayed in all three departments,” said Smriti Mandhana, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women Captain, during the post-match presentation ceremony.
“Now, we need to lift ourselves up-everyone must step up and come back stronger. Kanika Ahuja and Raghvi have been impressive, getting us to a respectable total, but we all need to start contributing,” she added.
Phoebe Litchfield Reacts To GGW’s Impressive Win Vs RCBW
Gujarat Giants Women batter Phoebe Litchfield reacts to her side’s impressive win, by labelling it ‘decisive’, as the result has kept the qualification hopes of their side alive.
“We came in today with positivity after having 2 average performances. We wanted to come out with a bang. The way our bowlers bowled was amazing and then to finish off pretty clean and clear there was awesome. We lost wickets in the past and it was good not to be on the receiving end. The bowlers bowled well to apply the pressure,” said Phoebe Litchfield.
“Ash did an amazing job to get the required rate down with that big over. It allowed me to come in and play freely and risk free. We were being positive and when the bad ball would come we would put it away. One partnership there would win us the game. [On the dropped catch resulting in a run out] It went up to that massive light out there but I managed to put the stumps down. Ashleigh was pretty embarrassed. We needed a win to stay in it. We will grab some momentum today and keep moving forward,” she added.
