IND Vs BAN: Veteran pacer Mohammad Shami creates history by becoming the fastest Indian to reach 200 ODI wickets. The 34-year-old has achieved the feat during India Vs Bangladesh, ICC Champions Trophy 2025 group stage match on Thursday, February 20. With this, Mohammad Shami now surpasses previous record-holder Ajit Agarkar, who is currently serving as BCCI Chief Selector.

Mohammad Shami is now also the 3rd fastest bowler in history to reach the mark, behind Australia’s Mitchell Starc (102 matches), and Pakistan’s Saqlain Mushtaq (104 matches).

Mohammad Shami scalped Soumya Sarkar (198th), Mehidy Hasan Miraz (199th), and Jaker Ali (200th) to reach the feat, as India have asserted their authority in their Champions Trophy 2025 opener vs Bangladesh.
In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, all eyes were on Mohammad Shami,who was himself making a return to the siude after a long lay-off period due to ankle injury.
Even though India have Arshdeep Singh in their ranks, the presence of Mohammad Shami is still needed, as the left-arm pacer is making his 50-over ICC mega event debut, and with Mohammad Shami’s presence, India do have much-needed experience to guide the likes of Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana.

It has been a memorable month for Harshit Rana, who made his ODI debut and now his first ICC mega event appearance, and the right-arm pacer made it count by scalping three crucial wickets, as India bundled Bangladesh out for 228.
The 23-year-old recorded the figures of 3/31 in his 7.4 overs, with Mohammad Shami grabbing 5 wickets, and Axar Patel grabbing two wickets.
