Vicky Kaushal is receiving widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava. The Laxman Utekar directorial, which has been performing exceptionally well in theatres, showcases the actor in a physically demanding role.
To bring authenticity to his character, Vicky underwent months of intense training, and now, the makers have shared a special glimpse into his preparation journey.
Vicky’s Preparation for Chhaava
On Tuesday, Vicky Kaushal, in collaboration with Maddock Films, shared an Instagram post detailing the rigorous six-month training process he undertook for the role. The actor started with horse riding sessions, which he described as “extremely rigorous” due to their combination with weapons training. In the video, Vicky can be seen practicing high-intensity action sequences with the crew.
“On each day there was about 6-8 hours of training work,” said the actor. He further revealed that most days, he would return home only to discover fresh wounds from the intense action rehearsals.
“The kind of discipline that has come into my life has never been there before,” Vicky added, as glimpses of him training between takes, still in full costume and makeup, were shown.
To embody the role of Sambhaji Maharaj, Vicky had to undergo a significant physical transformation. “One thing was certain that I had to bulk up a lot. I have to gain good muscle mass. Laxman sir had called Dinu sir and said that he has found his Chhaava,” the actor shared.
Vicky’s Gratitude Post and Temple Visit
Following Chhaava’s grand success at the box office, Vicky visited Mumbai’s Babulnath Temple to seek blessings. The film crossed the ₹100 crore mark within its opening weekend, and Vicky took to Instagram to express gratitude to his fans.
“All your messages, calls… all the videos you all are sharing of your experience of watching CHHAAVA… I’m seeing it all taking it all in. Thank you for all your love… Grateful to each and every one of you for celebrating the glory of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.”
