After nearly four years of anticipation, Spotify is preparing to launch its high-fidelity (HiFi) audio streaming service, taking aim at competitors like Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Tidal. A Bloomberg report reveals that Spotify is finalizing the service, which is expected to debut in 2025. As per the report, users will need to pay an extra $6 per month for the HiFi tier, bringing the total cost to $18 monthly. In India, where Spotify Premium is Rs 119, the HiFi add-on could be priced at around Rs 150.
Spotify plans to introduce the service under the name “Music Pro,” offering it as an optional add-on to its $11.99 Premium tier. Unlike Apple Music, which includes HD streaming for all subscribers at no additional charge, Spotify’s approach requires a separate upgrade for enhanced audio quality.
Additional Perks For Subscribers
The music streaming giant, Spotify, aims to incentivize subscriptions to Music Pro by bundling exclusive benefits, including song remixing tools, early access to concert tickets, and special promotional offers. Industry analysts speculate that curated high-definition playlists and exclusive live performances from popular artists could also be part of the premium package.
The streaming giant has expanded its content catalogue through recent agreements with Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group. These partnerships secure a robust library of high-quality tracks for the Music Pro service, positioning Spotify to compete strongly in the growing premium audio market.
Spotify originally announced its HiFi audio tier in 2021, but several delays have postponed its release. Now, with crucial licensing deals in place and development progressing, 2025 is set to mark the long-awaited arrival of Spotify’s high-resolution audio experience. Industry insiders expect the launch to coincide with major promotional campaigns, spotlighting the superior sound quality of HiFi streaming over standard options.
