Laila X Review: Netizens Declare Vishwak Sen-Starrer ‘A Disaster’: ‘Even Bhojpuri Films Have Be

Vishwak Sen starrer ‘Laila’ released in theatres on Valentine’s Day 2025. The Telugu film starring Vishwak Sen alongside Akanksha Sharma, Vennela Kishore, Babloo Prithiveeraj, and Abhimanyu Singh is an action comedy directed by Ram Narayan. The film stars Sen in dual roles, one as an aspiring model and as the titular femme fatale Laila.

However, ‘Laila’ faced some controversy and called for a boycott. After the film’s release and initial reviews, many pointed out on Twitter that there wasn’t anything to protest about so the protesters should not have bothered.

Laila Twitter Reviews

“Dont Believe any hatred reviews targeting #Laila movie. #LailaMovie is disaster on script itself from beginning to End its unbearable torture,” a user wrote, while another commented, “The Worst… Seriously what a scrap,”with a vomit emoji.

“Laila – Low-Grade Atrocious Film. The team have only trusted in body shaming and double meaning jokes,” another wrote.

Another wrote, “Bhojpuri Films Better Ani Msg Chesadu Ayya (Bhojpuri films have better message than this).”

A Telugu portal wrote, “Laila is a poorly made film with a junk storyline and third-rate direction. While there’s nothing wrong with attempting to cater mass audience, this movie is excessively cheap and absurd in every frame. It stands as the worst film of Vishwak Sen’s career and is entirely forgettable. The central concept of a man portraying a female character lacks any justified purpose within the story.  The supporting cast appears as though they’ve been selected directly from a low-budget Bhojpuri YouTube  films.”

Another wrote, “#Laila sells itself as a youth entertainer but delivers a half-baked raunchy comedy.  The first half has some clever adult humor, but once Laila enters, the writing nosedives into lazy setups and forgettable gags. Vishwak tries, but the film doesn’t. A few laughs, nothing more. #Thyview”

Laila boycott calls

On February 9, during the pre-release event of Laila, actor Prudhvi Raj, who is part of the film’s cast, made controversial remarks about political figures, which sparked a “Boycott Laila” trend on Twitter. His statements, which carried political implications, mocked certain political leaders in connection with the recent Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections. Despite Prudhvi apologizing for his comments, many online, particularly supporters of the YSR Congress Party, called for a boycott of the film.
