The Beginning Of Holi:
The history of Holi is closely associated with Lord Krishna. According to ancient legends, the festival of Rangwali Holi began with Lord Krishna and Radha Rani. It is said that Lord Krishna, along with his friends, was the first to play with colours by applying them on Radha Rani and her companions. This is why Holi is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the region of Braj.
The festival symbolises the love between Radha and Krishna. Lord Krishna’s complexion was dark, while Radha Rani was fair-skinned. Krishna once felt that Radha might not like him because of his dark colour. His mother, Yashoda, advised him to play a prank by applying colour on Radha, as her complexion would then match his. Krishna followed her advice, and with his friends, he coloured Radha and her friends. The residents of Braj loved this playful act, and thus, the tradition of Rangwali Holi began.
Holi is also a celebration of the victory of good over evil. The festival is known by various names, such as Laddoo Holi, Phoolon Ki Holi, and Lathmar Holi. Each region has its own unique way of celebrating this vibrant and joyous festival.
