NZ Vs SA: New Zealand marked their preparations for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in style, by winning the Tri-Series with win over South Africa on Monday. Merely few days after humbling hosts Pakistan, a milesone knock from Kane Williamson inspired New Zealand to a 6-wicket win at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
With the win, New Zealand have created history, as the side have now managed to chase their first-ever 300+ total against South Africa in ODI’s.

- 298 – Auckland, 2015
- 280 – Hamilton, 2018
- 260 – Dunedin, 2004
- 254 – Christchurch, 2004
“The conditions were different too, to get to 300 after a tricky start, there was some movement there and Breetzke with an incredible knock, we had to work hard to get there. We get a few days off now,” said Kane Williamson, who was awarded the Player of the Match.
“We are just going to go to different venues, we had a night game in the 1st ODI and day game today, we will prepare nice and early for the next match, the finals and hopefully we win that. We have to do it differently, it was great to be out there and you need partnerships when you are chasing. Conway was huge, getting the runs he did and the partnership we built,” he added.

‘In-Form Players Are Always Pleasing’: NZ Skipper
New Zealand Captain Mitchell Santner was delighted after his side’s imporessive win over South Africa, and stated that it is ‘always pleasing to have in-form players’, and further went on to praise Kane Williamson’s impressive hundred.
“Players in form is the main thing. You want to win but different guys stepping for us is pleasing for us as a squad. We will get to Karachi and rest up a little now,” said Mitchell Santner.
“We pride ourselves on good fielding, especially on flat wickets where you need to make something out of nothing, it really helps in such situations. It was an outstanding knock, he looked good at the top and the partnership with Kane was amazing. There was a touch of grass the other night, which helped our bowlers,” he added.
