SA20 League 2025 Final: MI Cape Town Secure Maiden Title With Comprehensive Win

SA20 League 2025 Final: MI Cape Town have won the Season 3 of SA20 League by defeating Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the Final. The Rashid Khan-led franchise defeated the two-time champions by 76 runs in what was a completely one-sided fixture.

With the defeat, Sunrisers Eastern Cape bring an end to their title-winning streak at 2, as MI Cape Town become only the 2nd franchise ever to win SA20 League.

Rashid Khan won the coins toss and chose to bat first on a surface that suited the batting conditions. The 2025 Final took place at The Wanderers in Johannesburg, and MI Cape Town made full use of the conditions by posting a total of 180+ in the first innings, as their innings ended at 181/8 after 20 overs.

Many batters were off to an explosive start, but failed to capitalise on it, as the likes of Ryan Rickleton and Dewald Brewis got dismissed with their respective blistering 39 & 38.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape did well with the ball, with Marco Jansen, Richard Gleeson, and Liam Dawson grabbing two wickets-each.

However, the chase proved to be a disaster for the side, as MI Cape Town bowlers ran through their batting order, and were left reeling at 8/2 in the start, before a solid 57-run partnership stabilised their innings.

With the fall of Tom Abell’s wicket, it was a downhill journey for the defending champions, as they succumbed to a 76-run defeat by getting bundled out for 105 in 18.4 overs.

It was indeed the Kangiso Rabada-Trent Boult show at the venue, as the former grabbed 4 wickets to put the game to bed, and the latter scalped two wickets by just conceding 9 runs in his 4 overs.
