Salesforce Layoffs: Firm To Cut 1,000 Roles, But Gives Employees An Option; Details Inside

Salesforce Layoffs: Salesforce is all set to carry out another round of job cuts as part of its restructuring efforts. According to a Bloomberg report, more than 1,000 employees will be affected by the layoffs, although they will have the opportunity to apply for other internal roles.

This news of additional job cuts comes as Salesforce continues its hiring efforts to strengthen its AI-driven product sales. While the company has not issued an official statement about the layoffs, they are expected to take place before the start of the new fiscal year. Salesforce is scheduled to announce its quarterly earnings on February 26, 2025.

Salesforce has been making job cuts since the tech industry’s mass layoffs in 2023. After major tech companies like Google and Microsoft reduced their workforces, Salesforce followed suit, reportedly laying off around 8,000 employees or 10 per cent of its total workforce. These cuts were part of the company’s broader restructuring efforts aimed at streamlining operations and responding to a slowdown in sales.

Salesforce’s job cuts have continued into 2024. In January, The Wall Street Journal reported that the company laid off approximately 700 employees. Before the start of fiscal year 2024, Salesforce had nearly 73,000 employees. Then, in July 2024, Bloomberg News reported that another 300 positions were cut.

Despite these ongoing layoffs, the company has been actively hiring for its AI division. In December 2024, CEO Marc Benioff revealed that Salesforce had secured over 1,000 paid deals for its AI-powered virtual representative platform, AgentForce.

Salesforce isn’t the only company making waves in the tech world with layoffs. In January 2025, Meta revealed plans to reduce about 5 per cent of its workforce. These cuts are expected to focus on the lowest-performing employees, with intentions to refill the positions later in the year.
