Mahakmbh 2025: The ongoing Mahakumbh Mela is witnessing five sacred Amrit Snans (bathing rituals), of which two have already taken place. The third Amrit Snan will be held on Basant Panchami, February 2, 2025, a day considered highly auspicious and spiritually significant. According to beliefs, taking an Amrit Snan during the Mahakumbh washes away all sins and brings immense blessings.

Basant Panchami And Its Significance:

Basant Panchami, observed on February 2, 2025, is dedicated to Maa Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, music, and arts. This day holds immense importance as it is considered a day of new beginnings. The day is known for its Abhuj Muhurat, meaning that one can perform auspicious tasks or start new ventures without any specific muhurat. On this day, devotees observe fasts and worship Maa Saraswati, believing that it leads to unparalleled success in music, arts, and knowledge.

Amrit Snan On Basant Panchami – Timing And Rituals

The Panchami Tithi of the Magh month will begin on the morning of February 2, 2025, at 9:14 AM and end on February 3, 2025, at 6:52 AM. The most auspicious time for taking the Amrit Snan is during Brahma Muhurat, which will take place from 5:24 AM to 6:16 AM. Devotees can also take advantage of Chaughadiya Muhurat for the Amrit Snan.

Brahma Muhurat: 5:24 AM – 6:16 AM
Char: 8:30 AM – 9:52 AM
Labh Kaal: 9:52 AM – 11:13 AM
Amrit Kaal: 11:13 AM – 12:35 PM
Shubh Kaal: 1:57 PM – 3:18 PM

The Right Method For Amrit Snan:

On Basant Panchami, after the holy bath of sadhus and saints, devotees should purify their bodies by performing a Malapakarshan Snan (body cleansing bath) away from the riverbank. Afterward, they should enter the river water up to their knees and take water in their hands, making a sacred vow. While bathing, the following mantra should be recited:

Mantra for Amrit Snan: “Gange Cha Yamune Chaiva Godavari Saraswati,
Narmade Sindhu Kaveri, Jalesmin Sannidhim Kuru.”

While facing the Sun, devotees should dip in the water five times, then offer water to the Sun for Tarpan and give Arghya (sacred offerings). After completing the bath, they should wear clean clothes, perform a Panchdev Puja, and donate to the needy.
