Vijay Hazare Trophy Prize Money: Karnataka Triumphs; Here’s How Much They Won

Vijay Hazare Trophy Prize Money: Karnataka triumphed in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy, defeating Vidarbha by 36 runs in the final held at the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium. This victory marks Karnataka’s fifth title in India’s premier domestic ODI tournament. However, the prize money for the champions has raised eyebrows, with Karnataka receiving just Rs 1 crore and the runner-up Vidarbha earning Rs 50 lakh.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), wealthiest cricket board globally, has often emphasized the importance of domestic cricket. Yet, the prize money for the Vijay Hazare Trophy remains relatively low compared to the Indian Premier League (IPL).

For perspective, Karnataka’s Prasidh Krishna is set to earn Rs 9.5 crore in IPL 2025 with Gujarat, while Vidarbha’s Jitesh Sharma will pocket Rs 11 crore with RCB.

Given the massive financial clout of BCCI, the disparity between domestic and IPL rewards continues to spark debates about the board’s commitment to nurturing domestic tournaments.

Vijay Hazare Trophy Final – Match Highlights

Winning the toss, Vidarbha opted to bowl first. Karnataka capitalized on the opportunity, with Samarn Ravichandran scoring a brilliant 101 off 92 balls, KL Sreejith contributing 78 off 74 balls, and Abhinav Manohar smashing a quickfire 79 off 42 balls. Karnataka posted a mammoth total of 348/6 in 50 overs.

In response, Vidarbha fought valiantly, led by Dhruv Shori’s 110 off 111 balls and a 63 off 30 balls by Harsh Dubey. Despite their efforts, Vidarbha fell short, being bowled out for 312 runs.

Standout Performances

Vidarbha captain Karun Nair was named Player of the Tournament for his exceptional performance, ending the competition with 779 runs. Karnataka’s Samarn Ravichandran claimed the Player of the Match award for his century in the final, which set the stage for Karnataka’s victory.
