TikTok has announced that it will have no other choice than going ‘dark’ in the US on Sunday if the Joe Biden government does not unless the government does not intervene before the ban comes into effect. TikTok in a statement said, “both the Biden White House and the Department of Justice have failed to provide the necessary clarity and assurance to the service providers that are integral to maintaining TikTok’s availability”.
The statement from TikTok indicated that unless the government took swift action to guarantee the app would not face penalties for breaching the upcoming ban, it would be “forced to go dark on January 19.”

This announcement came after the Supreme Court, earlier on Friday, upheld legislation that prohibits the app in the United States unless its China-based parent company, ByteDance, finalizes a sale of the platform by Sunday.
