Although the official start date is yet to be announced, reports suggest the season could kick off on March 21, with the final scheduled for May 25. The mega auction, held over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last November, saw 182 players sold for a combined total of ₹639.15 crore.
While Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) have each claimed five IPL titles, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their third championship with a win in the 2024 season. Rajasthan Royals, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans have each won one title. 1. MS Dhoni (CSK/ RPS): Dhoni tops the list with the highest win percentage among captains who have led in over 50 IPL matches. Leading CSK and RPS in 226 games from 2008 to 2023, he secured 133 victories with a win rate of 58.84% and a win/loss ratio of 1.46. Under his leadership, CSK claimed five IPL titles.
2. Sachin Tendulkar (MI): Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary cricketer, captained Mumbai Indians (MI) in 51 IPL matches, winning 30 and losing 21, with a win percentage of 58.82%. His leadership, though brief, had a lasting impact on the team.
3. Rohit Sharma (MI): Rohit Sharma, who captained Mumbai Indians from 2013 to 2023, led the team in 158 matches, securing 87 wins and 67 losses. With a win rate of 55.06% and a win/loss ratio of 1.29, Sharma has guided MI to five IPL titles, placing him third on the list.
4. Gautam Gambhir (DC/ KKR): Gautam Gambhir captained 129 matches for DC and KKR from 2009 to 2018, winning 71 games with a win rate of 55.03% and a win/loss ratio of 1.24. He led KKR to two IPL titles, placing him fourth on the list.
5. Shane Warne (RR): The Australian legend captained Rajasthan Royals in 55 IPL matches, securing 30 wins and 24 losses. His win percentage stands at 54.54% and he led the team to victory in the inaugural 2008 season.
