Looks like the big releases are working no longer. The highly-anticipated Ram Charan and Kiara Advani film ‘Game Changer’ did not live up to audience expectations. Despite being made on a budget of Rs, 400 cr, the Shankar directorial has managed to earn Rs. 107 cr in India after a week of release, Sacnilk.com reported.
Shankar breaks silence on Game Changer
‘Game Changer’ was announced in February 2021, and the film took nearly four years to release in theatres. Recently, filmmaker S Shankar shared his views about the reception his film received in an interaction. Speaking to Behindwoods TV, Shankar said in Tamil, “No filmmaker will ever be completely satisfied with the work he has done. This is a common problem. I feel I could have done better.”
Shankar also shared in the interaction that the initial runtime of the film exceeded five hours. Speaking about the edit, he said, “Some good scenes and situations were removed during trimming. The total duration exceeded five hours. It’s like sculpting; if we leave it as it is, it’s just a marble.”
On January 14, Ram Charan had shared a heartfelt note for his fans to celebrate the film’s success. He expressed gratitude towards the audience, cast, crew and the media for their support. “Your unwavering love and support mean the world to me. Game Changer will always hold a special place in my heart,” his post read.
Take a look.
In ‘Game Changer’, like the common film template these days, Ram Charan plays dual roles as a father and son, alongside Kiara Advani, SJ Suryah, Jayaram, and Vennela Kishore. Written by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations, the film is performing steadily despite a mixed response.
