With the first month of the year halfway done, individuals are looking to plan their financial errands for the New Year. However, for financial planning, it is crucial to keep a tab on the bank holidays in the year. The holiday list for banks is published by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) every year.
This holiday list includes festive celebrations, special occasions such as elections, national holidays like Independence Day, and weekend holidays. Banks typically observe holidays on second and fourth Saturdays in the month, and all Sundays.
Are Banks Closed On Monday?
The month of January itself includes 13 holidays for banks. These holidays differ across states for some celebrations. The festival of Lohri will be celebrated on Monday, January 13, 2025. This festival is celebrated in the northern part of the country.
However, banks will continue to remain operational across the country as the RBI has declared no banking holiday on the day. Stock markets will also remain open for investors and the people can plan their trades and banking errands on the day accordingly.
Meanwhile, there are mutliple holidays scheduled for banks in certain regions in the country in the coming week. To understand where and when banks will remain open in the rest of the month, let’s take a look at the banking holidays in January 2025.
