Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Raw Rice
  • 4 Tablespoon Cooked Rice
  • 2 Pinch Sugar
  • 2 Pinch Salt
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Instant Yeast
  • 0.5 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 2 Cup Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Coconut Milk
  • Oil or Ghee

Cooking Instructions

Rinse The Rice: Wash the raw rice thoroughly. Soak it in water for 4-6 hours overnight.

Grind: Take a blender, add soaked raw rice, cooked rice, and water. Blend everything together to make a smooth batter.

Fermentation: Transfer the batter to a bowl and mix salt, instant yeast to it. Cover it and let it ferment for 6-8 hours.

Prepare Appam: Heat a non stick pan and lightly grease it with oil or ghee.

Cooking Appam: Pour a ladle of fermented batter into the center of the pan. Swirl the pan to spread the batter. Make sure to keep the center thick and the sides thin. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy.

Serve: Gently remove the appam from the pan and serve it hot with vegetable stew and chutney.
