Jubilant scenes unfolded in the heart of Bengaluru on Wednesday as thousands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans gathered outside Vidhana Soudha and M Chinnaswamy Stadium to welcome their beloved team—now crowned champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for the first time. The newly crowned champions, led by Rajat Patidar, landed in the Garden City this afternoon to a rousing reception. Fans lined the roads leading from the airport, waving flags, chanting slogans, and holding up placards as the team made their way to Vidhana Soudha to meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar personally received the RCB contingent at the airport, before accompanying them to the CM’s office. Later, a felicitation ceremony has been organised by Karnataka government.
RCB clinched their long-awaited maiden IPL trophy on Tuesday night defeating Punjab Kings by six runs in a nail-biting final at Ahmedabad. The victory ended an 18-year title drought for the franchise and was a landmark moment for star batter Virat Kohli, who has remained loyal to the team since the league’s inception in 2008.
Mild Police Action Amid Surging Crowd
As the crowd swelled near M Chinnaswamy Stadium in anticipation of the team’s arrival, Karnataka Police were forced to resort to mild lathi-charge to manage the situation and ensure player safety. No injuries were reported, and police confirmed the situation was brought under control quickly.
