Chahal displayed his magic with a sensational hat-trick—his second in IPL history and the first of this season. The veteran leg-spinner dismantled CSK’s innings in the 19th over, claiming the wickets of MS Dhoni, Deepak Hooda, and Anshul Kambhoj, halting their late-innings momentum. As a result, CSK collapsed from 184/6 to 190 all out in just seven deliveries, with Chahal leading the demolition. It marked the first IPL hat-trick since 2023 and added another highlight to Chahal’s illustrious T20 career.

Reflecting on his performance, Chahal said he felt confident despite the challenge of bowling to MS Dhoni in the 19th over and focused on attacking the stumps, varying his lines and playing with the batter’s mind to take wickets.
“Feeling very good, it was the 19th over and in front of me was Mahi bhai, felt it could go either way, but the plan was to go for wickets. Five fielders were inside and the plan was to bowl on the stumps and also to bowl wide, not bowl easy balls and play with the batter’s mind.”
