BCCI Announces India Squad For IND vs ENG T20Is: Mohammed Shami Returns! Superstar Ignored


India squad for IND vs ENG T20I series: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (January 11) India squad for IND vs ENG T20I series against England, with Suryakumar Yadav named as the captain.

Veteran Mohammed Shami has made a comeback to the T20 squad after nearly two years. However, Rishabh Pant has not been included in the squad for this series.

Shami makes his much-anticipated return to the T20 squad after last featuring in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Following a recovery from a knee injury, the senior speedster has proven his fitness by performing in domestic tournaments such as Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was previously sidelined for the Australia tour (Border-Gavaskar Trophy) due to swelling in his knee.

Rishabh Pant’s omission comes as a big surprise, with Dhruv Jurel named as the backup wicketkeeper.

Sanju Samson, currently in remarkable form, is set to be the first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman. Shubman Gill has also been omitted from the team. Insted, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who impressed during IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has earned his place in the T20 setup. Unfortunately, Riyan Parag misses out on selection due to injury.
